Hello~ It's me~
I was wondering if after all these messages, would you'd like to hear from me? Haha! Can you guess what song is this? "Hint: The answer is in the link!" But we should still stick to the knowledge of the week, right? Here we go!👋
Vegetables and fruits made up half of My Healthy Plate!
It shows how important to include them in our daily diet.
What are the benefits of fruits and vegetables?
1. Low in calories
Fruits and vegetables have a high water content and are rich in fibre. The natural sugars in fruits and some vegetables
(eg. sweet corn, sweet potatoes) are absorbed into the bloodstream more slowly than refined sugars. Thus, fruits make a great snack or dessert.*Dried fruit and juices may contain added sugar, so a better option would be fresh fruits.
2. Rich in vitamins and minerals
Antioxidant properties of fruits help to protect body cells against harmful molecules.
In addition, fruits and vegetables are rich in potassium. Potassium is good for maintaining blood pressure.
3. Excellent source of fibre
Similar to wholegrains, fibre keeps us full for a longer time. This reduces any incidence of overeating.
Fibre also promotes regular bowel movements as it is indigestible.
Try these options in your next meal!
